FMmap from REC

https://recnet.net/fmmap

(Updated April 9, 2023)

FMmap is an online service based on the OpenLayers 3 environment that can be used to show the location of FM and AM broadcast transmitter sites.

The original REC FMmap was launched in the late 1990s.  After a long hiatus, we are happy to be able to bring this tool back.

To use the map is simple.  After you launch the map, zoom in on the area of the world that you want to look at.  Facilities will not start showing until you start zooming in closer.  Use the zoom controls on the left.   You can also use a wheel mouse to zoom in and out.

You can select from several different underlays.  The USGS underlays are available primarily for the United States.

FM facilities are denoted by red dots and AM facilities are denoted by green dots.

On FM listings, an asterisk (*) after the call sign indicates that the station is silent. (CP) indicates a granted construction permit but the station has not yet been licensed. (APP) indicates a construction permit application that has not yet been granted.

More information about most facilities can be found at FCCdata.org.

In some areas, you may see text labels overlapping each other, you will need to zoom closer in order to distingish which stations each transmitter site has.

FMmap is currently set to update on Sunday mornings with the information based on what is in our databases.

Enjoy the site!
